Event Description
Tournament Format
The tournament format is as per the Euro Quest specifications. There will be three heats. The top two finishes for each player will be considered for advancement; therefore, two wins guarantee advancement.
If five or fewer 2-win players are present for the semi-final round, then that will become the final. Otherwise, there will a semi-final. As needed, players with one win will be advanced. Ordered rankings will be posted prior to the semi-final round.
Five-player games are preferred, with 4-player & 3-player as necessary. Once all players have signed up for the heat, the GM will randomly assign them to tables in seating order with a designated first player. Exceptions will be made so that players do not repeat opponents.
Games will be kept to the 2-hour time slot. If a game has not progressed to Round 7 after 1 hour and 45 minutes, then the game will end after the Round being played.
The game winner is determined by Prestige points, with florins as the tiebreaker. Any remaining tie is awarded to the player with the lowest numbered Profession card on display.
Rules Clarifications
Rules will be as printed in the Rio Grande English edition with the change that
money will be public
. All florins must be kept in full view. Players are entitled to know how much money other players have at any time.
In setting up, there is one fewer of each Freedom than the number of players.
During the Auction phase, all initial bids must be exactly 200 florins, and all raises must be exactly 100 florins.
A player may choose not to buy anything during the Auction phase.
A player may bid more florins during the Auction phase than he has and convert one Prestige point per 100 florins to make up the difference if he wins the bid.
A Recruiting card may be used immediately after purchase or during the purchasing player’s Action phase in any round.
Players are limited to one of each Freedom or Building.
Other players will wait until a Prestige, Profession or Bonus card has been selected before continuing play.
Players should monitor each other to assure that all payments are made and all Prestige points are credited. If possible, a non-playing banker/scorekeeper will be used for the final.
