There are just a few simple rules regarding the tournament formats at Euro Quest...
Each event will have three preliminary rounds.
All heats played in an event will count.
Only the two best games will be considered for advancement.
Two wins automatically advances you to the next (semi-final or final) round.
Provided there are at least 35 unique players in a particular main event tournament, there will be semi-finals (E1 on the schedule, with E2 being the final). If there are fewer than 35 unique players, there will not be any semi-finals unless there are more two-game winners than there are seats at the finals. Exceptions may be made in individual cases provided the event GM obtains prior approval from the Tournament Coordinator and the Convention Director or Co-Director. Any exceptions to this rule should be noted in the specific tournament format to be posted on the website.
The GM must specify how many players will play at the final table.
In instances where additional participants are needed to fill out a semi final or final table, the following advancement rules will apply:
One win advances before no wins.
Second place advances before third place, and third place advances before fourth, etc.
Placement ties are broken by the closest percentage to first.
Flip of a Euro coin.
Unless otherwise stated, the number of games in the semifinal round will be the minimum number of tables needed to accommodate all two-game winners, with available alternates filling the remaining seats based on the above-referenced tiebreaker system.
If needed, we will use a coin flip to determine all positions in the top six in each tournament (for BPA laurels purposes) but only after all other tiebreaks are exhausted.
These rules will apply to all main event tournaments at EuroQuest.
